Guardiola doesnt expect a more mature Benjamin Mendy

first_imgDuring a press conference this Tuesday, Pep Guardiola revealed that he doesn’t expect a more mature version of left-back Benjamin Mendy. In football there are players like Benjamin Mendy, who are different from the rest, they have a more jovial demeanor as they can’t seem to have an off switch and manager Pep Guardiola knew this when he first signed the Frenchman from AS Monaco.Ever since he got to Manchester City, this player has always shown a predilection for the more active way of life, the one that isn’t necessarily as private as perhaps the manager would like.Pep Guardiola has learned to separate the player from the public persona with Mandy and other players, but the Frenchman is the one who has given him a more challenging relationship. From the very start at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola repeatedly stated that he never really appreciated the social media life that his defender led, Mendy vowed to slow it down a bit but he never really did it.Now after a couple of years have passed, it appears that the Catalan manager has finally given up on his pursue to stop Mendy from being so public with his life and he has finally accepted the Frenchman for who he is.🗣 | Pep Guardiola: “Benjamin Mendy is in the squad tomorrow (against Burton). Maybe on the bench.”#FPL #FantasyPL #FFScout #GW24 #mcfc pic.twitter.com/6y3xXxq5NU— Fantasy Football Scout (@FFScout) January 22, 2019On Tuesday, when asked about this public persona that Benjamin Mendy has on all his social media accounts, Guardiola explained why he doesn’t have a problem with it anymore. The Catalan manager will be happy as long as the payer responds on training and on the pitch, he doesn’t care about the stuff outside work anymore.“I am delighted with Benjamin,” Guardiola told a news conference via Four Four Two.“I am sad because we were not able to play him because of injuries but that sometimes happens.”“The way he is training, the way he is in the locker room… you cannot imagine how much the people love him. I am delighted – I just want to use him more! That’s all.”“I am not unhappy with Mendy [using social media heavily]. I am not here to change his mentality. His way, the way he lives… is what it is. When we bought him, we knew it.”Harry Maguire, Manchester UnitedSolskjaer praises Harry Maguire after Man United’s 1-0 win Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Ole Gunnar Solskjaer singled out Harry Maguire for praise after helping Manchester United keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Leicester City.“So, when we are talking about training sessions, always it’s perfect but he is active on social media. He likes to be. It is what it is.”“We try to convince him, but I’m not his father! [I tell him]: ‘Be focused on your job and what we have to do. You are young, and you can be one of the best left-backs, but it’s up to you,’” he added.Pep Guardiola: Benjamin Mendy ‘needs to be focused’ to achieve potential https://t.co/OYoao9X0Z6 pic.twitter.com/SsCpZHlnCg— Prem Brew (@prembrew) January 23, 2019After hearing Pep Guardiola speak frankly about Benjamin Mendy’s lifestyle, thinking about the poor way in which Jose Mourinho managed this with Paul Pogba at Manchester United is inevitable. The Portuguese manager truly hated this side of the French midfielder, they were always at odds for several reasons but one of the biggest disagreements they had was due to an Instagram story that Pogba posted after Manchester United was eliminated from the FC Cup by Derby County. We could see Paul laughing on a short video right after the Red Devils were eliminated in penalties, this was the origin of the already famous argument between the two of them on next morning’s training session after the infamous defeat.Pep Guardiola takes a very different approach to this with Benjamin Mendy, he prefers to understand his players instead of trying to limit him and this has brought a very peaceful relationship between the two.Even if Pep Guardiola doesn’ like the whole circus that is the social media lifestyle, he understands that times have changed and everybody has to adapt to the new era.‘I’m not his dad’ – Guardiola won’t change much-loved Mendy https://t.co/3P2ThhhBvl pic.twitter.com/KZXk9nDGia— Cleansheet (@Cleansheet) January 22, 2019What’s your take on players who love using social media for everything? Good Omens review Devilish David Tennant a hell of a lot of

first_img1:13 Now playing: Watch this: Comment Apart from that, though, the cast is rounded out by familiar faces injecting energy into even the smallest parts. Michael McKean manages to find pathos under a wildly veering Scottish accent, Jon Hamm brings glossy-eyed cynicism to the blandly self-righteous angel Gabriel and Mireille Enos gleefully vamps it up as one of the four motorcyclists of the apocalypse. But most of all there are Sheen and Tennant, bouncing Pratchett and Gaiman’s words off each other beautifully.Irreverent and cheekily amoral, Good Omens can be slow in places, but two divine central performances make it a heavenly good time. It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel Prime. In Amazon Prime Video’s apocalyptic new miniseries Good Omens, it may be the end of days, but David Tennant and Michael Sheen vamp it up like there’s no tomorrow. Enlarge ImageGood Omens’ release date is May 31 on Amazon Prime Video. Amazon Good Omens is streaming on Amazon now. The six-episode miniseries, based on a 1990 comic fantasy novel by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, is adapted by Gaiman in accordance with Pratchett’s final wishes. An irreverent tale of angelic intrigue in which Sheen and Tennant are servants of heaven and hell minding their own business on Earth during a celestial cold war. Devilishly funny in places while cozily meandering in others, the series earns its wings thanks to their heavenly double act.Sheen’s prim seraphim and Tennant’s debauched devil are mobilized to bring about the apocalypse when the Antichrist is born in contemporary England — except an admin error by satanic nuns delivers the bringer of darkness to the wrong family. Now who knows if the world will end on time?Angel and demon join forces as a motley collection of angels, devils and witches seek out the erstwhile Antichrist. Highlights of the freewheeling comedy that follows include surreal animated asides about angels dancing on the head of a pin, a witch hurrying along her own burning and the sight of Tennant just generally striding about like he owns the place. As the show romps through human history from the Garden of Eden to the swinging ’60s, the former Doctor Who steals the show as slinky demon Crowley. A snake-hipped combination of Bill Nighy and Keith Richards, Tennant offers serpentine oomph whether he’s sinking into the depths of demonic despair, engulfed by flame or dressing up as a Mary Poppins-style nanny — practically perfidious in every way. 1 50 Photos Share your voice TV and Movies Good Omens brings the End Times to SXSW 2:20 2019 TV shows you can’t misscenter_img The voiceover is just one of the things that makes the show feel kind of slow. The music and editing and a few narrative choices contribute to a general lack of urgency: Considering the show is literally counting down to the end of the world, it’s bizarre there’s so little sense of impending doom. The main problem is that we’re way ahead of the characters in their quest. We know where the Antichrist is, which makes the other characters’ investigations and revelations feel a bit circuitious. And when we do reach the end of the countdown, it’s a bit of an Antichrist anticlimax. It doesn’t help that a limp Jack Whitehall and blank Adria Arjona have zero chemistry in what should be a sizzling pairing of witchfinder and witch. This louche Lucifer has adapted well to the modern world, crashing mobile networks and diverting motorways into the shape of demonic sigils, and he begins to think armageddon might not be such a great idea after all. Sheen’s nervy angel Aziraphale shares Crowley’s concerns: He loves sushi and rare books and can’t understand why heaven is so keen to go to war. Sheen’s Aziraphale is a less showy part than Tennant’s Crowley, but the unfailingly decent angel is the gentle heart of the story. good-omens-amazon-tennant-sheen-goodomens-103-02736-rt2-fnlEnlarge ImageSheen and Tennant have fun in a succession of divine period costumes. Chris Raphael Pratchett and Gaiman’s 1990 novel mirrored the images of its much-loved authors in the lead characters of gentle Aziraphale and black-clad Crowley and in its cheery turn of phrase underpinned with a streak of jet-black humor. With the average goth’s favorite scribe Gaiman writing the TV adaptation, you expect it to lean toward a darker tone. But if anything, it could be darker. While blackly comic in places, Amazon’s Good Omens feels downright cuddly compared with, say, the outrageous treatment of similar metaphysical subjects in Preacher. A love of language shines through the masterful writing of both Gaiman and Pratchett. Unfortunately, the TV adaptation clings to the book’s text, translating it into a clunky and intrusive voiceover. Look, I’ve loved the novel and its delightful wordplay from the moment I first read it as a teenager. But television is a visual medium, and the wordplay-based jokes that can only be done in a voiceover, as amusing as they are, don’t make up for the constant interruption by momentum-killing explanation. AL relieved as BNP MP joins parliament

first_imgZahidur RahmanThe ruling Awami League is relieved as an MP elected from BNP has joined parliament, AL leaders said. They said there are now representatives from all parties in the 11th parliament as Zahidur Rahman, who was elected MP from BNP, has taken oath. The parliament session will be lively as the ruling party’s main rival BNP is now in parliament, the leaders said, adding that BNP’s allegations on vote rigging will now be meaningless.According to the Awami League, BNP would be divided into two groups if one or more BNP leaders join parliament. One group will be in parliament and the other outside. The AL assesses that there will be clashes between these two groups. The ruling party also thinks that they would gain politically as the group in parliament will be more powerful than the group outside. In the 11th parliamentary election, only six won from BNP and two from Gono Forum. A total of eight candidates won from their electoral alliance, the Jatiya Oikya Front. Two candidates, who were elected from Gono Forum, have already taken oath. Zahidur Rahman took oath on Thursday. There is a rumour that others elected from BNP may take oath too.AL leaders said BNP is a big political party. They have huge support. Although six BNP men won the election, their presence in parliament means the presence of big political party.AL leaders said the media will focus on the elected BNP MPs. So the BNP MPs in parliament will be no less powerful that the BNP outside the parliament. The AL will gain from this, the leaders said.A presidium member of Awami League told Prothom Alo that the BNP MPs who will take oath, will be expelled from their party. But they will not disappear and they will get a platform in the parliament and their activities and statements will be published in the media, the AL leader added.AL presidium member also said that the BNP leaders have been demanding the release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia. If BNP MPs in parliament demand Khaleda’s release, it will be more effective, the AL leader noted.AL joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Friday urged the remaining BNP MPs to join parliament within the stipulated time. He welcomed Zahidur Rahman.BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy told Prothom Alo that BNP will have no problem if a number of BNP MPs joined parliament. People will have no trust on those who will join parliament, the BNP leaders said.BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said there is pressure from the government to take oath. An organising secretary of Awami League said the ruling partymen will expect that all join parliament. If BNP considers the expections of Awami League as pressure, that their business, the AL leader said.Zahidur Rahman said remaining elected MPs from BNP, except Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, will take oath.He said in the parliament he will demand the release of Khaleda Zia and other leaders.* This report published in Prothom Alo online edition has been rewritten in English by Rabiul Islamlast_img read more

Houston Dreamers Leaders Demand An Extension To DACA

first_img X To embed this piece of audio in your site, please use this code: Ed MayberryProtesters outside the Houston office of Senator John Cornyn of Texas, on this last day for thousands of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA recipients to renew their status.Organizers from United We Dream Houston , which groups young undocumented immigrants, also called dreamers, want an extension to DACA, or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, without enforcement add-ons like militarization, mass deportations and the wall.On Thursday, some wore costumes like the Statue of Liberty, and held banners requesting people to honk as they drove by on Memorial Drive.  They demonstrated in front of Senator Cornyn‘s office, but one of the Senator’s representative said they weren’t notified about the rally in advance, and there were no appointments scheduled with them. The Trump administration will stop accepting applications after today for DACA, which protects nearly 700,000 so-called Dreamers from deportation, according to official numbers. Thursday was the deadline for thousands of DACA recipients to renew their status. DACA protections are due to begin expiring in March 2018, unless Congress extends them. The Department of Homeland Security says some 48,000 eligible unauthorized immigrants have yet to renew, and just over 106,000 either have renewal requests currently pending or have had their requests adjudicated. Organizers have no estimates of the number of Texans or Houstonians affected.DACA was started by President Obama in 2012 through an executive action that allows certain undocumented immigrants who were children when they were brought to the U.S. to remain in the country and be eligible for work permits.
