Chittoor: In a tragic incident, a farmer has committed suicide by consuming pesticides at Chowdepalle Mandal in Chittoor district on Friday. The deceased identified as Doraswamy Naidu (43), a native of Bhavani Nagar at Diguvapalli panchayat. Doraswamy Naidu has farmland near Pakshirajupuram, where he has drilled four borewells in the duration of four years. For which he has borrowed Rs 4 lakhs and also took money for interest from others. With the hope of paying off the debt, he has cultivated tomato crop by spending over Rs 1 lakh. This year, he joined Krishnamurthy as a partner and mortgaged gold at the bank, and they have taken Rs 85,000 as the crop loan. Including banks and private loans, Doraswamy’s debts have reached to Rs 12 lakhs. In this context, the water capacity of the bore has reduced, and there was no sufficient water for the crops. As there is no way out to come out of the debts, Doraswamy committed suicide by consuming pesticides near the borewell in his farm on Friday. The locals who saw him in an unconscious situation have shifted to Madanapalle government hospital, where he died on the way. The deceased survived by a wife and three children. Over receiving the information, Tahsildar Srinivas, SI Anil Kumar, RI Prakash, and VRO Narayana have visited Doraswamy Naidu family members and inquired about the reasons for the suicide.
