The background investigator resigned after his supervisor discovered the problems. The Los Angeles Police Department rookie was fired. But City Councilman Dennis Zine said the incident raises questions about whether police recruitment and hiring should be handled by the Personnel Department or returned to the LAPD. “We need to maintain the standard of quality versus quantity,” Zine said. “I’ve got concerns about the system.” last_img
