Batesville, IN—Margret Mary Health wants you to know the signs and symptoms on the coronavirus. As of January 30, 2020, there have been six confirmed cases of Novel Coronavirus in the US. While this may be concerning, the immediate risk within the United States is relatively low according to officials.Signs and symptoms of the virus include:FeverCoughingShortness of breath or difficulty breathingOther early symptoms to watch for include:ChillsBody achesSore throatHeadacheDiarrheaNausea/vomitingRunny noseIf you have recently traveled to China or have been in close contact with someone who has and is experiencing the above symptoms, call your healthcare provider immediately. Please call ahead so the provider can take appropriate precautions to prevent the spread of infection. Be sure to tell the provider your symptoms and that you recently traveled to China or had close contact with someone who has.“While we aren’t particularly concerned about the Coronavirus reaching our area, other seasonal respiratory infections are still on the rise,” says Deanna Youngman, MMH Infection Prevention Coordinator. “To protect both yourself and your family be sure to practice good hand hygiene, stay home when you’re sick, cover your cough and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.”In an effort to be prepared, Margaret Mary’s Infection Prevention Coordinator has established protocols and will share all communications and updates during this time to all providers within our community and the surrounding areas we serve.
