The Jack J. Valenti School of Communication at the University ofHouston invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorposition to teach courses in media production beginning in Fall of2021.The candidate will need to have demonstrated a substantive recordof research, or the potential thereof. The successful candidatewould be expected to teach undergraduate courses in mediaproduction and/or multimedia and visual journalism, and graduatecourses in journalism/mass communication. The successful candidatewill have teaching or professional experience in areas such asnarrative or documentary production, broadcast journalism,multimedia storytelling, podcasting, and/or data visualization. Wewelcome candidates whose experience in teaching, research, orcommunity service has prepared them to contribute to our commitmentto diversity and excellence.Valenti hosts ~500 undergraduate students majoring in mediaproduction, and these students gain real-world experience takingclasses and producing content in our Lance T. Funston CommunicationCenter, which is a state-of-the-art media and content productionfacility at the Valenti School of Communication ( https://uh.edu/class/communication/about/facilities/FunstonCC/). The Center encompasses 3,300 square-feet of production spacebetween its two studios, complete with high definition studiocamera.The priority application deadline is November 6th, but the positionwill remain open until filled.
