first_imgDonegal ETB is delighted that the following experts have agreed to participate in the Employers Panel and we are really looking forward to hearing their wisdom, knowledge and experience at Further Education and Training Fair 2015.Dearbhla Kelly, Guidance Counsellor with Donegal ETB will be chairing the discussion which will start at 10:30am on Thursday the 26th of March in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny.Padraig Monaghan has held the position of Managing Director, UnitedHealth Group Global Services Ltd, Ireland since August 2006 and Senior Vice President, Government Claims Operations since October 2012. Padraig has overall responsibility for claim operations for the Medicare & Retirement, Specialty Benefits and Care Improvement Plus lines of business within the U.S market.UnitedHealth Group (UHG) is the most diversified health care company in the United States and a leader worldwide in helping people live healthier lives and helping to make the health system work better for everyone.They are committed to introducing innovative approaches, products and services that can improve personal health and promote healthier populations in local communities. UnitedHealthcare, is UHG’s Health Benefits platform which serves key markets and geographic regions with a broad range of health benefit products and services for both consumers and benefit sponsors.Currently, over 650 people are employed at the Letterkenny, Co. Donegal site, serving multiple UHG business clients, making it the most diverse and largest site in the EMEA region. In 2006, UnitedHealth Group acquired PacifiCare and the Letterkenny site. Since that time, the business has grown from strength to strength, acquiring new lines of business.Padraig’s teams are located in Ireland, America and India.Prior to joining the company in 2003 he held various Senior Operations role during his 12 years at Intel Corp mainly specializing in Wafer Fabrication Facility start-ups.Padraig holds a degree in Materials and Engineering Technology from the University of Limerick and he is also a qualified teacher of Engineering.Padraig is a member of the Irish Business and Employers’ Confederation Regional Executive and is a Board Member of the Ireland Chamber of Commerce, North West Division. Catherine Monahan has been the Human Resources Manager at Lough Eske Castle, managed by Horst Schulze and the Capella Hotel Group, from its opening in December 2007.The historic Lough Eske Castle is a luxury five star castle resort located on a secluded lakeside estate just outside Donegal Town.Lough Eske Castle has received numerous awards since opening in 2007 and is the only Irish hotel to claim a World Luxury Hotel Award, having been awarded the World’s Best Luxury Country Hotel title for the past five consecutive years.With a background of over 20 years in HR Management, Catherine’s role is to oversee the management of 160 employees within Lough Eske Castle and she is also a member of the Senior Executive Team. Catherine’s industry career includes 5 years as HR Manager with Abhann Productions, producers of Riverdance, and their sister television production company, Tyrone Productions, run by John McColgan and Moya Doherty.She has also worked in HR with Coates Viyella Branded Menswear in Northern Ireland and Our Ladys Hospice in Harolds Cross Dublin.Catherine returned to Donegal in 2006 and worked with the Donegal Town Community Chamber for a year before joining Lough Eske Castle.Catherine has a BA in Business Studies from the University of Ulster and a BA in Human Resources Management from the National College of Ireland. She is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development.Declan McBrearty is General Manager of the KER Group with responsibilities for Accounts, Purchasing, Retail & Services within the Group.KER Group specialises are specialists in a wide range of engineering services to the offshore industry particularly the Marine and Oil & Gas sectors.They offer services to a variety of industries nationwide including those in the marine, hospitality and retail, oil and gas and environmental and commercial sectors.KER Group core services include electrical installations and repairs, refrigeration and air conditioning, Total fish handling solutions, Water Treatment, Fabrication/Welding and Boast/Engines/Chandlery.KER Group employs 35 full time staff which include a team of 20 qualified field engineers and prides itself on building long term relationships with its customers.Declan joined the company when he finished secondary school in 1999, gained his apprenticeship in the Electrical trade and held the post of Electrical Engineer.In 2008 he was promoted to Operations Manager with responsibility for Customer Relations and the planning of work schedules for the field Engineers.In 2011 after a restructure within the organisation he was promoted to General Manager. There are 40 people employed in KER Group and while a number are based locally, others are Field Engineers that operate locally, nationally and internationally as required.KER Group are approved employers of apprentices in a number of trades including Electrical, Refrigeration, Metal Fabrication, and Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting and continue to support the National Apprenticeship System in partnership with SOLAS and Donegal ETB.Declan Thomas is an Industrial Relations and Human Resources Executive with Ibec and is based at Ibec’s North West office in Donegal Town.Ibec is Ireland’s leading provider of employment law and industrial relations expertise, with services encompassing representation, negotiation, HR management, training and advice.Ibec provides a national voice for business in a wide range of direct services to its 7,500 member companies nationwide.Declan has vast experience in Industrial Relations, Human Recourses and Employment Law and is responsible for delivering professional advice and advocacy services to employers in the North West Region.Declan is also a qualified Solicitor with wide-ranging experience having worked at Reid and Sweeney Solicitors Ballyshannon.
